What exactly does Instly Scout scan?
Scout reads the publicly accessible content of the pages you scan (in the Chrome extension, the page you are on and up to 7 linked pages; from the website form, the homepage), runs 13 technical checks with live probes as AI crawlers (the report says how many were measured), and has an AI read the copy. It doesn't access password-protected areas or submit forms.
How is the AI readiness score calculated?
The 0-100 AI readiness score is measured, not judged: 13 weighted technical checks make up 60 points, and one clear H1, FAQ or answer blocks, review or case-study markup and a clear call to action 10 points each. The same checks on an unchanged site give the same number; a check that cannot finish is left out, and the report says how many were measured. The full report shows the breakdown, each part with what was measured, so you can see what's pulling the number up or down.
Is the score a real search ranking?
No. Scout does not rank your site against others. The AI readiness score measures your site against fixed checks, and the AI answer check asks four engines your buyers' questions and records whether each answer names you and which pages each engine cites, plus a list of other brands the answers name.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The free surface x-ray runs from the form on the instlyscout.com homepage, and you can continue from it to the full audit. The Chrome extension, from the Chrome Web Store, is optional and runs in desktop Chrome: it scans the page you are on and up to 7 linked pages. There are no website tags, tracking scripts, or code changes required on the site you want to scan.
Can I scan a site I don't own?
You should only scan sites you own or are authorised to audit. Agencies auditing client sites should ensure they have permission. See our Terms for details.
How do report links work?
After checkout, the success page links to the full report and a print-ready view. Use your browser's print dialog to print it or save it as a PDF. Report links are also sent by email, and each report opens from its own secure link, so keep that email.
How do I get back to a report I already bought?
Open it from the link in your confirmation email: each report has its own secure link. If the link asks you to sign in, use the email you used at checkout and we email you a one-time sign-in link - no password to remember. If you have lost the link, email [email protected] from that address.
